This isnt actually for me, but My Dad Gave me a call tonight wondering if I knew how to deal with an issue he is having. He got the HP CM1015 Colour LaserJet printer and the HP software installed fine, but he is having issues with installing the ReadIRIS software for the OCR.
When he clicks on setup.exe it asked him to associate the file with a program, he accidently hit photoshop now when clicking on it he gets photoshop and is told he doesn't have read or write access. The Disc is labeled to be compatible with Mac. We checked ReadIRIS website, HPs website and other forums but nothing... Anyone Have any solutions? He's mad because its a $500 printer, (we kind of said "We-told-you-so" because we suggested the wonderful HP Photoshop C5280 that installed easy and without any issues.) Hes ready to return the printer out of frustration... |

The new HP's have the windows and Mac software on the same disk - just like the one for your C5280.
If he has installed the HP software - he has everything installed already - the same as yours. He has now gone back and is browsing the disk and found the windows version of the software that is on the disk (anytime you see a .exe file, that is a windows file, do not try to install these on your Mac) - the same as on the disk with your C5280. Have him look in Applications - Hewlett-Packard - and all the apps he needs should be there already - including HP ScanPro.app (or somethng similar) - have him open all of those apps one at a time so that he can see what he has And have him remove that windows stuff from his Mac - it will never work. I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth. In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus. I'll forward your suggestions to him and hopefully your instructions can be understood better than what I said. Thanks! |
