Ever since I did the new quicktime update it won't play any of my avi files. I get the beach ball and when I click on the dock icon it says it's not responding. If I click on any mpeg video it has no problem; it's as if the update cleared any other reader I had in my Quicktime folder - perian even. Any ideas?

I know this is not the solution, but you can try VLC Player instead. It supports a large collection of file types.
