Hey - so I'm currently cell phone shopping and I've all but decided on this phone, but I can't yet commit. Here is the issue: I'm still on 10.3.9 and all the Apple support for iSync indicates that my iSync 1.5 is going to need to be upgraded to 2.2 and for that I need OS 10.4. I'm really only getting this phone for security reasons and I didn't intend to do a full upgrade until about a year from now when I move from Mini to iBook, so what are my options, if any for syncing? My Mini doesn't have Bluetooth as well, so I have to do it via USB.

Any thoughts? I could use some suggestions. (Keep in mind, if you're going to recommend another phone I live in Canada and we don't have the same selection....otherwise I'd be getting a Helio Ocean in a heartbeat!!)

It's the "i" actually, but the rep referenced it as "W" as well. So I assume "W."

Yeah I have the W810i myself, but im using OS X 10.4, so Im not sure about the 10.3 support... I wish I could test it for you.. there are other scripts out there also for ericsson's that could potentially help out in that area, just check macupdate.com for those scripts.

W180i and K810i are very different phones, you should probably remember that when you talk about your phone in the future.

It isn't my phone. I haven't bought one yet, I'm only doing some leg work to see if it is feasible to buy one, but thank you, I'll be sure to keep that in mind.

Thanks a bunch, no worries, I suppose I'll have to do more plodding around. I didn't realize this would be quite so difficult. Every phone store representative I've spoken with since I began looking for a phone has gone silent and slack-jawed when I inform them I use a Mac. With so many people who own cell phones it amazes me that they don't have just a smidge of product knowledge in the stores.

There's no native iSync support for your phone, and I'm not sure that you'll get it to work just by hacking a plist file (which worked for me on 10.4.10 with a K810). I've looked through the iSync 1.5 supported devices list, and there are no newer SE phones there. You might luck out, and you might not.

Thanks a bunch, I'm still on the fence with this phone, but knowing that there might be a way is great.

Another thing - if the W810i works, you should get every other Sony Ericsson phone to work with iSync, if you hack around a bit, except the M and P series
