What is macs default unpacking program?

I downloaded a rar file and a dmg.bin file and i forget the name of macs program that opens it? it asks to specify a default application when i try to open the files from my desktop

Whats a dmg.bin file?? if its a DMG you just open it in Finder.

Technically, it's not Finder; it's DiskImageMounter. ;p

Do a Google search for Stuff It, there is a fee Stuff It download that you can get and use. No, the installer is not stuffed either.

The default for most archived files is a behind-the-scenes app called BOMArchiveHelper, which has a limited range of support unfortunately. Don't get Stuffit. The Unarchiver handles a wider variety of archived files and opens them faster. No annoying email process to download either.
