Hey this is something that use to happen to me quiet often on windows: cannot delete an item b/c it's still in use. Now I use to resolve this problem by deleting some files in the key registery or just restarting the PC.
I downloaded DivX Player and VLN player when I got my new Macbook last week. Of course VLN reads pretty much every video format that comes my way (mainly XviD, DivX movies.) So I decided to "uninstall" DivX Player and I'm using quote b/c this is the first time I ever uninstalled a program by dragging it to the Trash and emptying the content. It felt weird but you guys are the Mac gurus and this is what I was advised. Everything was good exept for that one file I can't get rid of: DivX Decoder.component
Did this ever happen to one of you? It's saying the file is in use... but where? Should I just restart the laptop?

Also, I use to leave my PC on 24/7 and I never had a laptop before (Windows or Mac). What should I do when not using the computer for an extended period of time (8 or more hours)? Sleep mode or shut down?

Thanks!
QUOTE Thanks

Let me answer your question anyway...just leave the Divx decoder.component, it will allow Quicktime to play Divx files.

Just sleep your computer unless a reboot is required by software update. No need to turn it off. Unix is a very stable system.

the Divx decoder.component was probably in use by Quicktime, so just using apple+tab to get to Quicktime, then Apple+q to quit the application, probably would have allowed you to delete it.
