Will I have to buy Final Cut Express HD?
I tried to use iMovie to load up preexisting movie clips in various formats, including Xvid, DivX.. it just came up with an empty blank clip. Will I have to buy Final Cut Express HD to work with these formats?

You have to install the codec into QuickTime and then it will work with iMovie.
