I bought my Macbook through my school and it came with .Mac as part of the software bundle. I was told the account will expire if you don't use it after a certain time after your purchase. I was wondering what the program does because I am about to just give it away or something.
Thanks, js |

.mac is actually a service, but it includes some software you can download. Go here for an overview:
http://www.apple.com/dotmac/ I use .mac, and one of the things I like is the backup s/w. I use it in conjunction with an external hard drive. Backups are real easy with the tool. Yes there are probably other tools and maybe even better tools, but this does exactly what I need. With .mac you also get an email account w/ 7 names, some GarageBand files, web hosting, and iDisk. (I had a break while writing this, and others have responded. I'll post this "as is".) |

I rely mostly on Office, so I don't think .Mac would benefit me. I think I'll give it to one of my friends in fashion design at Parsons. I think it'll suit their needs more than mine. Thanks for the input guys. |
