Can someone please help. I really need to convert AVI files to MPG. Any freeware programs out there?

Isquint doesnt convert to regular MPEG. I need it to convert to a simple format, not to MPEG4, which isnt supported by PowerPoint

Powerpoint won't play an .avi file? Seems like i've imbedded avi before. On a windows machine though so maybe that's the issue.

Try this one ffmpegx

I tried the ffmpegx on a .asf from windows file to convert to .mov, .mp4 but no audio.

whereas I used VisualHub to do the same and it worked perfectly. I have not tried .avi - .mpg on ffmpegx yet, so don't discount it, but I know VisualHub works, and it's not too expensive.
