I use Firefox as my main browser for the internet, and have a large amount of bookmarks on my parents computer. I now have a MBP and would like to know if its possible to transfer all the folders of bookmarks from one mac to another? I have found a bookmarks.html file, and when clicking on this it opens a page containing all the bookmarks as links, but I cant figure out where to find the bookmark files to transfer them.

Its actually a pretty cool way of looking at your bookmarks using the above file, you could have it as a tab that always opens with firefox, then change to it to look at all your bookmarks, then click on the one you want to open.

But I would like to combine the bookmarks from both computers before using this, any help appreciated, cheers Shaun.

To import your bookmarks:

Bookmarks -> Organize Bookmarks... (Manage Bookmarks in older versions)

This opens the Bookmarks Manager window. Then:

File -> Import...

Choose From File, then OK

Choose the bookmarks.html file

This will add your old bookmarks to the current ones (and not replace them),
so you can effectively "merge" your old bookmarks with your new ones.

And if you want to set your old "Bookmarks Toolbar Folder" as the current Bookmarks Toolbar Folder,
select on the folder, then:
Edit -> Set as Bookmarks Toolbar Folder

I really love how simple and convenient Firefox's bookmark system is.

Cheers, thanks for pointing that out, I knew there was a way just couldnt see it. I know have firefox open 3 tabs at start up, one of them including the bookmarks.html file which shows all the bookmarks, Im going to run it this way for a week or so and see if it is an easier and faster way of selecting bookmarks than actually using the menu system.

Drag your bookmarks to the Bookmarks Toolbar. I have them in a Folder which I drag onto the toolbar then you click on the link to access the contents.

My Toolbar is a combination of folders and individual links.

I use Safari BTW but it's just the same in FireFox AFAIK ...

The attached image is right at the top of the browser that'll launch when you double-click on the image ...
