Hi! I'm looking for a good free Photoshop-like app for Mac OS X... I know about a Mac version of Gimp, and about ChocoFlop which seems quite good. Is there anyone here who used both and can recommend me one of them? Or maybe there's some other good app which I don't know about? I've used Gimp before on Linux, and it was good for me, but I've heard that X11 apps on Mac aren't as easy to use as native Mac apps...

Graphic Converter is worth a look at but it's not free.
I don't generally bother with Alpha software so Chocoflop is not on my list.

GIMP is a fairly mature, feature rich offer - ChocoFlop, while very promising, is still under development.

I am running GIMP on my Mac, and it works well. It is not as fast under Apple's X11 as it seems when running native on my Linux PC, but it still works very well.

I can recommend it. I routinely use GIMP for day to day minor photo retouching. It just loads a lot faster than Photoshop, which I also have.

If you've used Gimp on Linux before then Gimp.app is exactly the same. X11 apps use the quartz window manager to appear to be running on the same desktop as your Mac software, but in fact it behaves exactly as it would on any other X server.
