What kind of camera is it? iChat generally only supports iSights. To use any other camera, you need to first load the vendor's driver. Then you need to get ecamm's ichatusbcam package from http://www.ecamm.com/mac/ichatusbcam.
That ought to do the trick! My Macs: PowerMac G5 Quad, 2.5 GHz, 4 Core, Mac Pro, 3.2 GHz 8 Core, Power Macintosh 7500/100 My iStuff: 32 GB iPhone 4, 30 GB iPod Video, 16 GB iPod Touch My OS': Mac OS X Tiger, Mac OS X Snow Leopard, Mac OS X Leopard, Mac OS 8.6, openSUSE 10.3, Win XP I was on the Mac-Forums honor roll for September 2007 |

She figured out that the only way to keep from being frozen was to stay in motion, and long ago converted most of her flesh into liquid. Now when she smells danger, she spills herself all over, like gasoline, and lights it. |

Skpe is free for use between any two Skype equipped computers, and it has clients for all of Mac, PC and Linux. So it is a pretty broadly based package. I am very impressed. For the record, I am not associated with Skype in any way, just a really happy user of their product.
