X11 Help Please

I've downloaded X11, but it won't install. I get to the "Select Destination" part, but it says "You cannot install X11 on this volume. Newer software already exists on your computer". What do I do? I have already checked various folders, it isn't already installed, so i don't know why it won't work. Please help. BTW I am also new to Mac, so be as clear as you can. thanks to nyone who can help.

hmm i had that same problem i was trying to use the gimp and i could never get x11 to install.

From the link that was posted:
"I had to dig deep in the Apple installation DVD to find the missing piece. It took me quite a while but I finally found it.

The missing package can be found in the following path.

System/Installation/Packages/X11User.pkg"

In other words, you cannot download X11 for Tiger, you must get the package from the install media. The package you have was downloaded and therefore won't work.

Ok, I'll do what you say, but I got the package right off of Mac's website.

put you os x disk in and find it on there

The package off Apple's web site is for Panther only - 10.3.x
Wont work in Tiger.
