Anyone have any idea when adobe, microsoft, or any other of those companies distributing the really necessary software will go universal?

    Thanks.

According to this article MS is planning to release "Office 12" 6-8 months after Office 2007 is out. You could expect it somewhere around September 2007.

Depends on your usage I guess but have you tried NeoOffice? Can't think of anything else Microsoft do that I'd class as really necessary

Photoshop CS3 is already been demonstrated running on Intel, so with any luck we're still looking at a spring 07 release for Adobe.

Acrobat 8 also just came out for Universal.
