For a stand alone FTP program, Cyberduck. Very good FTP client.

Yeah, I'd concur with dtravis, Cyberduck is your best bet for free. If you don't mind paying a little bit, I'd highly recommend Transmit which is what I use.

I also use Transmit personally, first shareware program I ever bought...

Here's a great overview comparing nearly all FTP clients for OS X though:

For simple use, we should not forget the humble command line. Start up Terminal and type "ftp". Simple, powerful and very effective. Frankly it is the ftp client I use most of the time, and I have Cyberduck (and CaptainFTP). I admit Cyberduck is a pretty good client, but Terminal's ftp command is excellent as well. If you have any unix or Linux background, you will feel right at home.
My Macs: iMac 27" 3.4 GHz, Mac Pro 3.2 GHz, PowerMac G5 Quad 2.5 GHz, G4 Cube with 1.2 GHz Upgrade
    My iStuff: 64GB iPhone 5, 64GB iPad4, 30GB iPod Video, 16GB iPod Touch
My OS': Mac OS X Lion, Mac OS X Snow Leopard, Mac OS X Tiger, Mac OS 9.2.2, openSUSE 10.3
