So I use Microsoft word for mac. And recently (last 3-4 months) the window just disappears when I'm doing work. For example, I'll hit Tab in order to indent and the window disappears!

Could it be an interaction with another program? It's VERY annoying. It's still open, when I hit Apple+W it pops up asking if I want to save etc. Its very weird. I can also continue to type and it will show up once I hit Apple+W or another command.

Definitely will be an issue for note-taking when school starts.

Please help!

Your current serial number should still work.

Yikes, I re-installed and it still happens. I've found that it happens especially with Cut-and-Paste.

Have you installed the latest updates? I know when I first installed Office on my PowerBook it gave me some issues also. I installed the updates and haven't really had any problems since. May want to give repairing the permissions a shot to. Best of luck to you...

Try deleting the Word preferences file:

home directory/library/preferences/Microsoft/clipboard preferences

Bad preferences can sometimes cause weird behavior.

Since this is happening when you hit the TAB key, your CMD key might be stuck or you may be inadvertantly hitting the CMD key while hitting TAB. CMD+TAB allows you to quickly switch between applications.

Also have you remapped any keyboard shortcuts?

That's what I was thinking.... make a new keyboard shortcut for indenting and try it out....maybe hitting the Tab key has been remapped to closing the active window?

Nope that's not it. whats weird is that it only happens sometimes.

Also it's not command -tab because the it doesnt change to the next app. It still says Microsoft Word on the menu bar, just the document disappears, I can still type in the document I just can't see it until I hit a Command-key (any key works)
