how do I turn off the little keyword anticipation thing (you know where you type in a letter and your previous searches starting with said letter drop down in a list) in safari?

Go to the Safari menu and check "Private Browsing"

possibly a more practical way would be to go into safari's preferences. Under the Autofill tab, deselect Other forms

and, you could, in Safari, hit History>clear history. this'll clear anything not in the system database automatically (mostly apple.com links).
