Anyway, I am trying to set up mutiple email accounts with the same mail server (use them mostly as "return addresses") but unable to. It keeps telling me that this server has already been used... What am I doing wrong? This option is no problem with Entourage. Last edited by ZRH2SFO; 12-21-2006 at 11:31 PM. |

that's a tough one. because based on what you are saying, the actual e-mail address doesn't define the account as separate. Which I hadn't anticipated. And having the same login info seams a little odd, and risky to me also.
Would it be possible to change the login info for the other accounts. I know that sounds like allot. But I don't know what else you could do. I would have thought that the different e-mail addresses would have been enough to illustrate a disparity. |

I don't know, I don't know why you would use the same login info for different accounts on the same server. I would have thought the login name would be different on each at least.
I just tested my theory and I was right, if you use a different "username" in each they will all work. I would have thought that the User name would be related to the email address, and thus different. I mean usually the username is correlated with the email address. well if they all get forwarded to your earthlink account, can't you just use the earthlink account. I have a website hosted thru at&t, the email for which is linked to my yahoo email, and my ISP email is link to the same yahoo account. So I just use the ISP pop info, and i get all three in the same inbox. But i can access the website separately also as they provide a different server for the web hosting email. mine come out to be
pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com and pop.biznet.yahoo.com but if i had different sites username comes out differnet. so all on the biznet server I would have x@sitename.org y@sitename.org x@sitename2.com y@sitename2.com etc etc And so it would all be different, and only the server info would be the same. Which would work with mail. I'm going to bed I sound like Tonto, if no body else can figure it, I'll be back. Last edited by Ice Cream Man; 12-21-2006 at 12:59 AM. Reason: tired |

Thanks a bunch, it worked!!! At first, this message below threw me off, but then I realized I don't need to receive any mails this way (actually, I don't want to receive any mail through each of the accounts;-)
"Trying to log into the POP server “pop.mindspring.com” has failed. Please make sure the username and password are correct. If you continue, you may not be able to receive any email." |
