media sharing apps

Guys I just bought my macbook two days ago and I love it. Only one thing annoys me, it's that I can't find media sharing applications like kazaa on windows and even the apps I found had no users at all times so what would you recommend?

Seeing as we don't discuss procurement of software or media via illegal means, I can't really tell you about Kazaa and the like. See the sticky at the top of the forum.
