Its my understanding that IE for mac is no longer officially supported by microsoft. There are some places to download the last available version on the web, but you can't get it from M$ anymore.

If you do have it installed, IE is not as tightly integrated with the OS as it is in windows and does not make itself such an inviting target for security attacks.

So its pretty safe, but its sort of a moot point. Its probably better to stick with Safari, Opera, Firefox and some of the other modern browsers.

Nah, it bites...

It's only fun to see how many W3c compliant sites crash it...

What about Microsoft's ActiveX Controls? Do any browsers in the Mac universe support these? I have to use a few web sites that REQUIRE these beasts. Thanks.

No - Active X is strictly a Windows thing... AFAIK it isn't supported on OS X, Linux or any other OS. It is also being phased out by Microsoft due to all the security flaws it has.

If you have sites that require it, you'll have to use Virtual PC (on a powerPC based mac) or boot camp / parallels if you have an intel based mac.
