DVD player Driver Region Code

I live in the united states so i have American DVDs (NTSC) and as far as my computer knows i play DVDs from Region code 1. But, i have acquired a DVD of a movie from Europe, but as many of you may know they have a different format for their movies (PAL) and my computer recognizes it as Region Code 2. The computer lets you change your Driver Region Code up to 5 times, after that it becomes permanent. I'd like to play this DVD a couple times, but also change between Region Codes without worrying about the 5 change limit. Does anyone know why the limit it to 5, and is there a way to hack it so i can change it an infinate amount of times?
