Anyone know of a decent, preferably free syntax editor to write C (with preferably support for other languages too) code in?

Text Wrangler is free and will syntax highlight your C code.

It's a pleasure.

Text Wrangler is a brilliant piece of freeware, ideal for any user who needs a little more than TextEdit can provide.

A related question please. Does my new Power Mac G5 come with a C compiler somewhere? A quick check hasn't turned on up. No "cc", no "gcc". Is there one there? If so, where? Thanks!

...and thanks for the TextWrangler hint - I'm going to get that!!

On your first restore disc should be XCode install. Failing that you can download XCode from Apple which will install the GNU C/C++ compiler (gcc/cc)
