inadvertant change in the way Mail is displayed

got a new iMAC and every thing set up smoothlyl. Then my wife used her mail acct. Somehow the mail display switched from the initial two column display to a single column with the mail subj, etc on top and thebody of the mail message on the bottom. How do I get back to the initial (I assume 'default' display?
