    Question Webm
searched for "webm" and got two unrelated threads to my question.

I am wondering how I can view Webm in safari. I looked up some extensions but didnt see anything that helped.

Install Perian if you haven't already and see if Safari can play WebM files..

WebM is an open format and Apple is pretty hostile to open formats (not a criticism, just an observation) so it's not really a surprise that you didn't find any answers. As of now, you need a third party plugin. Perian should support it (it does support VP8) but there's no guarantees that'll work forever since the devs ceased development.

@Van, aren't VP8 and WebM the same thing? I'm not up on all the codecs..

As far as I know, they're either the same or WebM is a variant. Then again, I know nothing about codecs so there's a possibility that I'm wrong, haha.

I seem to have some vague recollections of Google buying a company that made a codec and then open sourcing or making it available freely otherwise in a different name after. I know VP8 is part of the newer versions of Android..

Here's what Wikipedia has on WebM:
The WebM container is based on a profile of Matroska. WebM initially supported VP8 video and Vorbis audio streams. In 2013 it was updated to accommodate VP9 video and Opus audio.
