I've just upgraded to Mt Lion from Leopard, and I miss appleworks. I've not been able to find anything to take its place. Is there something out there I've not found? thanks.

Where have you been looking? Did you check the Mac App Store which you now have since you upgraded to Mountain Lion?

Apple Pages = $19.99

Apple Numbers = $19.99

Apple Keynote = $19.99

Or, download the free LibreOffice from here.

Thanks. I'll check them out. I needed the graphics as much as the word processing.

There are a metric tonne of word processing programs out there, Pages is a good one and there are plenty more depending on what you really need.

For graphics, you'll need to be a wee bit more specific. If you're looking for a simple vector (line drawing) program, or a pixel editor, or what. Again, plenty of VASTLY superior options, but I want to make a recommendation that addresses your actual needs.
