How can I Find/Replace text with varying attributes in a long document?
OS 10.6.8 soon upgrading to OS 10.8 Mountain Lion
Attached are before and after examples of how I'd like to edit a document using Word (or any other program for that matter).
My local library history (hardcopy books and DVDs, not folders and files) contains 1074 entries. Each entry is different. One entry looks like this:
Record 3 of 1074Another looks like this:
Record 1073 of 1074What I want to know is if I can isolate all the DVD titles out of my history, each one to look like this:
A Christmas tale [videorecording]The final list doesn't even have to have [videorecording] after the title.
I'm reminded of Word's "Replace:""Replace With:" function. But there's so much differing text in my document that I don't see how "Replace" is the solution, unless Wildcards, which I'm not familiar with, might hold the answer.
Is what I want to accomplish too far-fetched for even the Mighty Word?
Any help you can give on my project will be greatly appreciated.
