Hi, Tried searching for this but couldnt answer my question.

Word 2004 on our school network takes ages to load....it appears to be re-creating its preference files each time it starts.

What could be causing this?

We are running OS X 10.4.3 on 1.47Ghz eMacs...each with 768MB memory. They all connect to a WIndows 2003 server via Mac OS X Sever 10.3. Word is installed locally on each machine but its preference files are stored on the user home folder which is on the network.

Its a real bottleneck when a whole class opens word at once.

Cheers.
QUOTE Thanks

Have you checked to see if there are any network connection problems? If the preference files are on network shares and Word isn't recognizing them, maybe it's looking fo them in the wrong place?
