I have problem with quicktime X and windows quicktime 7 playing mp4 files

Mac Specs: 2.8 GHz MacBook Pro 10.8,3 8 GB mem, 2.66 GHz Mac Pro - Dead, iPhone 4

We are going to need more information. What problems are you having? Do the same problems occur in both QuickTime 7 and QuickTime X?

Where do the MP4 files come from, what codecs are used, does it play in VLC, what Mac do you have, what OS version etc etc etc
