is it possible to share docs from office word files to text edit?
Have iMac, running mac office with word files I'd like to share with my MacBook pro. Do not have word or office on laptop. Both are running os 10.8 mountain lion.
if not text edit, is there an app that I could use?

thanks,
JJ

Yes, TextEdit can open and edit Word files. Note, however, with more complex Word files the results will not be satisfactory. That's why you were given the suggestion above of using Pages or the free LibreOffice.

Next time, don't be so quick to reply with sarcasm.

I use LibreOffice - good alternative to Microsoft Word!
