Garageband - Add note in sheet music view

I want to add a note in the sheet music view of Garage band.
All the tutorials skim over which key(s) you need to use to accomplish that
There are plenty of videos showing it happing.
However no written instruction as to the exact key strokes.

To clarify I mean a music note. I've tried dragging it over to the score sheet but that doesn't seem to work.
