Mail Addressing Format Question

Mac Specs: 15.4 MBP 2.66 GHz i7 8GB RAM

I keep my Contacts sorted by Last Name and displayed First Name then Last Name. When I key an address into Mail, it always displays as Last Name then First Name. Is there any way to have it display as First Name then Last Name without sorting my Contacts that way?
