hi. i recently found out about x11 and what can be done with it. so i proceeded to find certain programs i liked and tried to install them with no luck. i downloaded a program called kalamaris. its a mathermatical program used for graphing and other stuff. i was wondering if anyone could tell me how to install and use x11 programs(such as kalamaris) or if there is a good site that would tell me how to. thanks a bunch

Well, first you have to make sure you have X11. If you do then everything should install just fine, and when you open that app, X11 will open first.

If you don't, get your OSX install disk and put it in, navigate to "Other Apps" and install X11. Hope this helps!

I try to Command+Shift+/ when I can.

Was it a Stuffed file? Did you have to unstuff it?

Try Relaunching Finder. Command+Option+Escape

If it was a stuffed file > unstuffed (which it probably was), sometimes the folders seem empty until you relaunch Finder. Hope that works.

First off, was the file you downloaded a binary or source? Binaries compiled for linux may or may not run on OS X X11, usually not. You need to either download the source and compile it (you need Xcode tools) or find a binary compiled specifically for OS X.

Most binaries for X11 are not double-clickable in the Finder. You need to run X11 and either run them from a terminal or use a window manager where you can add the app to a menu or icon.

Is there a readme file? Or one named install? Drag that onto a text editor. They probably have a generic icon.
