Hello,
I have a MacBook OS X 10.4.11. Recently I am having problems with iTune, at first - as soon as I try to open it, it crashes and I have the well know message: The application iTunes quit unexpectedly. Mac OS X and other applications are not affected...

... then I realized the same thing happens when I want to use Keynote, Graphic converter, QuickTime or VLC.

Is there a common link between these... any idea what I have to do?

Thanks for your input

First step for me when things like this happen is to verify and repair permissions in disk utility. You can do this without having to boot from the install disc.
If that does not help, then I would run disk repair from disk utility, but by booting from your install disc.
Try the first step and then report back to us.

Hi there, Thanks for your answer.
I tried the first step and it didn't work. Can I run disk repair from the disk utility - I don't know if I have an install disc?

Not effectively if there is a serious issue, no, but you can certainly run it.
It will repair minor things, but you really need the install disc to do a proper repair.

Hello, it's me again with the on-going problem. I've been too busy, but I finally looked at the problem again and ran disk repair from disk utility by booting from your install disc, and it didn't work. Now I have all kind of applications that crash besides the above mentioned ones!!! (DVD player ... all the istuff - iTune, iPhoto, iCal... etc)

What am I to do? wipe everything out and reinstall? I hope not!
Great day to all.
