Lion OS mail freezes

I've been greatly pleased with Lion OS and thought any mail "peculiarities" were me (search tool would not pick up keywords, disappearing mail from folders, etc). This morning - a video attachment of 3MB was declared too big at 28 MB - and that message window froze. I've since done all utility checks, "single user fsck - yf", reinstalled Lion, - and every time I open the mail - that same letter comes up and freezes the mail. Dozens of force quits. How do I get into mail and clean this mess up? Thanks!

Your post was moved here to "OS X - Apps...." as it does not belong in iOS Apps as that is for mobile applications.
