I want my default browser to automatically switch when connected to the TV via HDMI
I use Chrome normally, but Kylo is really good for when connected to my HDTV. Is there any way to have my macbook automatically switch default browsers when it detects an HDMI connection?

No, not unless you change the default browser to Kylo.
