Changing the default app. when file is clicked

Does anyone know how to reset the default application when opening a file?
I have many Appleworks files and when I click to open one of them, my Mac trys to open the file with Apple Script (an incompatible app.). I right clicked and manually changed the setting to "always open with" appleworks, but when I shut down the comp. it goes back to the default, Apple script. This is truly annoying! :dummy:

right click on your document and get info.
Choose the default application you want and press "change all"

maybes you forgot this step.
