I'd like to set about teaching myself how to program in C++, since for some reason my university makes it IMPOSSIBLE for graduate students to enroll in undergraduate C++ courses. I imagine I'll need a compiler and an IDE of some sort...or will I?

Any help/advice you can offer will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Get Xcode from the Mac App Store - it will include not only all the tools you'll need but will also install Apple's IDE for C/C++/Obj-C development.
