I noticed that Myst V is coming out soon (or is already) out and I was wondering if it is necessary to have played all previous Mysts to understand and enjoy the latest version. I have played a very small amount of the first Myst and have not played any others, but Myst V looks awesome. So...can I just pick up V and play it or will I not understand it unless I've played the others?

While you probably don't have to play the others I'd highly recommend it if you want to truly understand the stories.

My copy of Myst V should be here today or tomorrow
