itunes 5 problem

every time i launch itunes 5 , the window open but then the beach ball cursor comes on and it takes 5-7 min for itunes to start properly , if i try and force quit in between .. it says itunes -not responding ..... but after 5 min it always starts

what might be the problem .. i tried reinstalling it .. didnt help

got a powerbook g4 12"
