My oldest iMac - 24 is now in the kitchen which I've been busy painting the last few days - I've had iTunes playing for painting help and it frustratingly keeps stopping mid-track..
Am not using firefox or anything else - just the machine as a background jukebox and get very frustrated while up a ladder and the songs suddenly pause... ANY IDEA what is causing this ? It's running with the latest OS.X and the latest iTunes prog. but has actually done this for some time now even with older versions....

No idea, but if you can't get it working you can try using Vox.
Vox :: The Lightweight Music App for Mac OS X Also had seen this tip in this thread: Basic OS X/Mac Troubleshooting 4) Delete the .plist file - If it is a particular program that is giving you problems delete its preferences (.plist) in 'Your User Name'/Library/Preferences Last edited by feralicious; 07-07-2011 at 12:58 AM. |

I wasn't sure which section to post it in ! I'll try in another section and hope I don't get censured for 'thread duplication'!

A couple of months back I used Onyx to go through everything and I had hoped this had solved the problem but not. Live each day as it comes - it may be your last !?

The proper way if you feel a thread is in the wrong forum would be to PM one of the staff and ask for it to be moved - which is now done.
If this is not occurring on all tracks, I would suggest the tracks it is occurring on are corrupt. You have not mentioned whether these tracks are local (on the hard drive of that machine) or you are streaming them on your network. I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth. In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus. Place your vote for our Member of the Month |

OK - I'm sorry but I wasn't aware of that etiquette / procedure.
The songs are all in my iTunes Library on the hard drive- and as it happens so often on many different tracks I can't think that they are all 'corrupt'... Live each day as it comes - it may be your last !?

Which hard drive? Internal or external? System details (ver, ram, cpu, HDD type). When is the last time you checked the filesystem or scanned perms? Do you do ANY maintenance on your system? What else is running in the background? Turn off any screensavers (set the screensaver to Blank) and visualizers (iTunes).
You do not give a lot of information to go on, so there is not a lot to suggest. Instead of complaining, give more information. Does it stop because it goes into sleep mode. Either use caffeine or check energy saving settings in system preferences.
