Postfix says it starts, but it says the mail system is offline when i send something

Member Since: Nov 21, 2010 Posts: 23	05-29-2011, 05:18 PM Mac 10.3.9, it says the mailsystem is offline after i start postfix, and i start postfix again (without stoping it by the way, and it still says the same thing) and it still says it is offline. Why is this?
