Need Help with iPhoto 6

iPhoto 6.0.6 has run flawlessly on iMac 10.4.9 for past 4 yrs. Still does. However presently library is not "recognized" in Front Row or in systems preferences under screen-saver/desktop so choose from or view.... even though to open iPhoto separately it still runs and has not lost/deleted one item of sever 4000plus pix.
Help plz. Apple-care no longer covers. This seems too simple a fix to take back to store 4 genius-bar to examine.
PS: Yes, as a precaution ive 'rebuilt" the iPhoto cache 2wice, tho it was not lost in the first place. Recognition by system-pref's and Front Row still inop.
