I know I'm using a pretty out of date operating system, but I bought this little iBook for doing work-related things and that was it. I am looking into updating to 10.4, but that won't be happening for a little bit. So, for now I really need to find a few things to make it usable for me.

1. word processor (something similar to word, open office, etc)
2. spreadsheet creating/editing software (similar to excel)
3. yahoo messenger or even aim that will work with 10.1.5
4. some sort of time tracker to time track my work
5. something to monitor my finances
6. some sort of scheduling tool

I am preferably looking for free programs. Thank you in advance.

It has been the desperate attempt to escape from torturing memories, from a sense of insupportable loneliness and a dread of some strange impending doom ….”― Edgar Allan Poe

Office 2004 and 2008 are going very cheap on auction sites with the release of the 2011 version and contain Excel. No doub\t others will advise on free suites, but Office is the best,.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
