Hello,
I'm new to Word for Mac and I have the following problem with Word 2011: When I open a document stored on a networked drive, I can't save it after I modify it. Word tells me there's a network or file permission error. I check the file permissions and it says I can read & write. Excel 2011 doesn't have this problem and saves modified files to a networked drive without any problems. Any suggestion how to solve this? Also, where do I set the default language for spell checking in Word? Whenever I launch Word, its spell checker is set to English and I have to set it to my mother tongue manually for each session. Not sure if this helps but found it on the net:
There have been two reports of the following scenarios: 1) More than one user was viewing a document on the network. If the first user closed their copy, the second user was unable to save theirs. 2) If two documents on the network were attached to the same template, being edited by two users; if the first user logged off, the second user could not save their document. In the meantime, there are various work-arounds, such as Folder Actions. You could set up folder actions on a folder on the user's local drive, to copy the file to the network. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- My suggestion would also be to talk to your IT dept and make sure they check your permissions....hope this helps

Try going into Users/Libraray/Preferences and removing the Word .plist file to the desktop. reboot and a new preference file will be made and if things are okay trash and dispose of the original.
Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer! |
