I want to purchase Office 2011 and have waited for Black Friday hoping for a good deal.

I use mostly Word and Excel and rarely Powerpoint but my email use is all through Apple Mail or Thunderbird so I don't need Outlook so have decided on the Home and Student Edition.

I see the basic Home and Student Edition is available for $89 on Amazon and it appears the Family Pack for 3 computers is available for $109.

The problem is our household has 4 computers and I don't want to have to pay for a Family Pack plus one basic pack. Apple software's Family Pack allows for 5 computers. Is there any option for Home and Student Edition for more than 3 computers?

If I have read correctly the Family Pack only allows for Office to be used on 3 computers or either comes with 3 licenses for 3 separate computers.

Thank you for your help and if you know where I can get it for even cheaper than I stated above let me know.

Unfortunately, you're correct. The Home and Student version comes either in a single license version or 3 license pack install. Unlike Office 2008 which allowed for two installs per license, Office 2011 is more restrictive.

And since Office 2011 must be activated it also validates the license each time you open an Office application and matches it to the particular machine you installed it on.

You might want to think about using the free Open Office instead. There's no restriction to the number of installs and it provides good (not perfect) compatibility with MS Office.
