Hi All,

I am trying to rid my mac of two applications that I can't seem to get rid of....I went into the application folder and simply deleted the two apps I didn't want anymore..but when I right click a file I see the option for those two apps still available (the apps are stuffit and automater) is there an additional step to removing a program? Thanks All

Have you tried appcleaner? You simply drag the apps into the program and it deletes the apps and all related files.

Well, AppCleaner will delete most of the related files. Third party apps like that are not perfect. They're a step below the best: an uninstaller that comes with the application.

Yeah but stuffitexpander doesn't have an uninstaller.

That is the reason why I will not have their products on my Mac Pro, or any other that do not come with an uninstaller, including Office 2011. Crimson have a look at this guide to uninstalling Stuffit:-

After you delete StuffIt following Harryb2448's you sometimes need to rebuild the OS X LaunchServices Database to clear that contextual menu of any "dead"/duplicate entries. This can be done with a Terminal command or from the GUI using something like Maintain - Cocktail - Overview

Office 2011 does have an uninstaller. When you install on your computer, it looks for any version of office that you want to uninstall. You can run that again later. I think it's in the Office Updater app.

Well, I swear it asked me if I wanted to uninstall a version for office, even later on. But now I can't seem to find it.

Well, I hope the OP has resolved the situation, but continuing on with the side discussion about Office. . . Does it not come with Remove Office any more?
/Applications/Microsoft Office 2004/Additional Tools/Remove Office/Remove Office

(last one is the uninstaller, in a folder with the same name)

No it doesn't I just checked that directory and there is only three files in there. None of them contain more than 1 file each. No folder named "Remove Office."
