Can we shut Dashboard down?

I know that dashboard needs to "load up" the first time you launch it after a restart, log off/on, or just turning your PB on, BUT is there a way to shut it down if you need to with out logging out?

You can open activity monitor and quick the Dock. The Dock will restart w/o dashboard running.
