Early in the naughties I used Pinnacle on the PC to edit video and author DVD's. I know Pinnacle was a bit variable on the editing side but it was great on the authoring side - unlike iDVD you could make your own themes with a page layout style interface and still do animated icons.

Is there anything like that for the Mac?

I've searched and there seems very little...

I am guessing the same, but it sounded too interesting to let it slide. LOL.

The word "naught" means zero "0". So my take on what the "early naughties" means is sometime from approx. 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003...etc.

Sometimes using too much slang can make things really confusing (I don't think I've ever heard of anyone referring to the early 2000's as the "early naughties").

Aaaaand to get back on topic ... I don't know of anything that lets you EASILY make your own themes OTHER than iDVD (well, "themes" isn't the right word ... main menus anyway).

I tried Xilisoft's DVD Creator, meh ... there's "My DVD Edit" and "Sizzle" but both of them are a total mess IMHO.

Toast Titanium does basic menus so its an alternative to iDVD but doesn't give you much if any customization.

Bottom line: at least as far as I know, there's not much when it comes to custom creation of DVDs on the consumer side other than iDVD. On the pro side, of course, there's DVD Studio Pro (part of Final Cut Studio).
