McAfee Slows Mac Down

I recently installed McAfee on my MacBook Pro. After realizing that it was slowing down my system, I uninstalled it, but my system is still not working as quickly as it was before. For example, it takes much longer for the computer to start up and turn off than it previously did.

Any help on how to ameliorate this problem is much appreciated.

Did you uninstall it correctly (ie. did you use the uninstaller as opposed to simply dragging it to the Trash)?

I did indeed use the uninstaller to uninstall the program. But it still takes much longer to turn on and off the computer than previously.

Go into System Preferences > Accounts > Log In Items and see if McAfee has placed anything there for starters. AV can be darned difficult software to remove, for example you might try thias:-

McAfee on any and every platform is one of the worst products I've ever dealt with.

Run through these instructions to be sure you've cleaned house
