so my mom has two computers, an imac which is downstairs and a laptop upstairs. the problem is with her email. if she sends an email from her laptop which is upstairs and wants to refer to it on a phone call downstairs, she has to go back up to her laptop because it doesnt show up in her "sent" folder downstairs. how can you make it so your sent emails show up on both computers? thanks

Assuming she's using Apple Mail.app for her email needs, make sure that the program is setup to use IMAP to deal with the mail. That way, the "state" is the same across all computers/clients..

So an email sent on the iMac will be visible on the laptop and vice-versa..

Raz0rEdge:

It's not up to the computers to make email IMAP or not; it's a function of the provider.

Basically, Mom needs to switch her email to Gmail or MobileMe if she wants to use IMAP, which is ideal for people trying to use email on more than one computer.
