I've done bad today. I deleted snow leopard's quicktime 10 because I wanted to have quicktime 7 instead. But it wouldn't play anything. I think because I deleted 10. So then I deleted 7 too. So I don't have any quicktime program now, but when I try to install 7 again, it says I can't because there is already quicktime x installed here. Please help me.

Use Cmd-F from desktop and enter quicktime in the search field. That should show you where every remaining Q'time file and component is. Once selected, you can Cmd-Delete to send the file to the Trash.

You do have the option of reinstalling the MacOS, but that will reload Q'time 10. I ask, simply because I don't know, but does QT 7 even work with Snow Leopard? Is there something special about QT 7 that you want to use it in preference to v 10?

I'm leaving now to go and find myself. If I should return before I get back, please ask me to wait.

I wanted to go back to quicktime 7 because 10 seemed to get rid of all the additional options. Specifically, I wanted to use the export feature in quicktime 7.

The reason you cant install Quicktime is probably the Quicktime receipts in /Library/Receipts.
Try moving or deleting them and trying again.
If you do a reinstall, there should be an install of Quicktime 7 on your install DVD. It is an optional install and installs it into /Applications/Utilities.
They can both coexist on your drive.

QuickTime X is part of the system and can't really be uninstalled. But QuickTime 7 can also run just fine alongside it with no issues.
